The Newry and Mourne District Council through it’s Sports Development Committee is pleased to announce that the Annual Post Primary Schools Cross Country will take place in the beautiful setting of Kilbroney Park. This event has been well supported by the Schools in the area. The Mayor of Newry & Mourne District Council, Cllr John McArdle said: “I wish to congratulate all those Post Primary Schools in the District who support this event, the Council appreciates that it requires substantial effort by the Schools to take time out to adjust their busy timetable and to arrange for transport in order to make this event the success which it undoubtedly is. “Despite this extra work, there is no doubt that the event enriches the school programme and the wide range of prizes to be won ensures that the maximum number of young people are recognised for their achievement on the day.” Mrs Ciara Lowe, Disability Liaison & Sports Development Officer for Newry & Mourne District Council added, “It is forecast that at least 500 young people from all parts of the District will participate in this event and I would wish to acknowledge the input from the Organisers, Mr Gerry McAnuff Race Co-Ordinator, his volunteers and the Sports Development Committee.”
