Headway Newry make a ‘spectacle’ of themselves
Recently Specsavers Newry donated old spectacles to Headway Newry and members made masks for their annual Halloween party which this year was a Masquerade Ball held The Bank Bar Newry. This project is only one of many that the members take part in.
Headway Newry is the only registered charity solely dedicated to supporting people with brain injury, their families and carers in the Southern Trust area and is funded by SHSCT.
It offers a range of services for their members e.g. work on the allotment, cookery classes, music, storytelling, information sessions, arts and craft as well as social outings. They offer support and a warm welcome to people who have acquired a brain injury, their carers and families.
In addition to funding from SHSCT a lot of work has to go into fundraising and one such event was held recently with a bag-pack in SuperValu, Hill Street raising £1004.70.
Board Member, Carole Murphy, thanked the Management and staff of Supervalu for their kindness and to all their customers for their generosity. Carole added “Raising money is fundamental to Headway Newry being able to provide such an array of activities to its brain injury survivors.”
Kieran Lowery, Manager of SuperValu commented, “The Management and Staff are proud to support a local charity and to one who provides a unique and much needed service to brain injury survivors and their carers.”
Headway Newry extend their thanks to Specsavers and SuperValu, Newry. If you would like to know more about the work of Headway Newry please contact Sheila Quinn, Development Officer on 028 3083 3728 or by email at info@headwaynewry.org
