PSNI launch investigation after spate of local burglaries
Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a number of incidents in Newtownhamilton, Hilltown and Newry.
Four vehicles were entered, two businesses burgled and a car stolen overnight between Monday, 15th October and Tuesday, 16th October. Detectives are investigating a link between all these incidents.
Three vehicles, a Volkswagen Sharan, Renault Megane and Suzuki Jeep, in the Yellow Road area of Hilltown were entered and items stolen (including cash and a DVD player). A car in the Lisserboy Road area of Newry was also entered and a sum of cash and mobile phone taken.
In Dundalk Street, Newtownhamilton, thieves entered two business premises. Cigarettes were taken from one of the businesses and a gaming machine smashed open in the other.
A silver BMW 530D Sport Auto was stolen as the result of a creeper burglary in Ringsbane Road, Newry, some time between 6.30am and 7.30am. This car was reported to be involved in criminal activity in C District on Wednesday morning, 17th October.
Detectives are asking anyone with information in relation to any of these incidents to contact them at Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000. They would also like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to the movements or whereabouts of the silver BMW since Tuesday morning.
