Tucker is nine county champion
St.John Bosco A.B.C Newry has added another Ulster 9 county Novice Champion this weekend at Toome Bridge. Jake Tucker of St. John Bosco won the Boy 1 39kilo division.
In his opening contest in the quarter finals he stopped Tom Ward from Twin-Towns A.B.C Donegal in the third round. And in the semi-final Jake also stopped his opponent James McCloskey from St. Canices A.B.C Derry in the first minute of the first round to secure his place in the final.
In the Final Jake Tucker won the title in impressive style, defeating Gary Arthurs form Gleann A.B.C Belfast 11-4. After a cagey first round Jake was working out his opponent and lead the contest 3-1.
At the start of round two Jake started to go up through the gears, catching his opponent with some great left jabs and right hands straight through the middle, stopping his opponent in his tracks. Arthurs received a standing 8 count and as soon as he got it Jake was straight back in with shots to head and body.
The third round started as much of the same with Tucker catching his opponent with some great combinations. And it wasn’t long before the referee had no choice but to give the Belfast boxer another standing 8 count. The final score finished 11-4 for Tucker’s 1st Title in his first year in competitive boxing.
This title means it’s a good start to the season adding to their host of Armagh-Down titles at the start of the season.
