Ballyholland residents urged to be wary of thieves

Sinn Fein Councillor Peter Kearney has urged residents of the Ballyholland area to remain vigilante after two separate incidents of attempted theft in the area in the past fortnight.

Speaking to Newry Times, Kearney revealed  that a home was broken into two weeks ago and on a separate occasion in Innisfree Park, an attempt was made to steal a car.

“I would ask residents of the community to take all necessary precautions especially in the run up to the Christmas period when opportunistic thieves may seek to take advantage of the surplus of expensive goods in peoples homes.”

He added, “Simple measures such as locking all doors and windows and leaving a light on in one of the rooms when leaving your home could greatly discourage and deter any would be criminals. Also if possible to park your vehicle in full view of your home.”
