McGinn angry at access problems for Refuse Collection Crews
Fews area Sinn Féin councillor Pat McGinn has requested a meeting with Council Officers to discuss issues relating to bin collection disruptions in the John F Kennedy Park area. The elected representative highlighted residents concerns at a recent council meeting.
“On a regular basis residents in a section of the Kennedy Park area find that their bins can’t be collected due to access problems for our Refuse Collection Crews. This maybe due to parking issues, or road works.
“What is clear is that there are a growing number of estates becoming inaccessible for our bin collection services. It is a health and safety problem. Residents then become angry and frustrated as alternative arrangements have to be made.”
He added, “Council Officers need to ensure that action is taken to remedy this growing issue, rather than reacting when they occur. We need to move into a problem solving action mode, rather than the usual waiting until it happens and then react policy.
“There are “hotspot” areas throughout Newry and Mourne where this is happening on a regular basis.”
