‘Flooding on Concession Road could cause risk to people’s lives’ – Hearty
Sinn Féin Councillor Terry Hearty has called on the Roads Service to deal with the flooding on the Concession Road in Crossmaglen before lives are lost.
Speaking at a meeting with Roads Service Councillor Hearty said,
“If drainage is not done to prevent water flowing down the Concession Road before the frost and ice set in, it could cause risk to people’s lives.”
“I explained to the Roads Service about the heavy volume of traffic on the Concession Road as this is the main road to Castleblaney and Dundalk therefore motorists can travel up to 60mph, people who are unaware of the road may not be aware of the flooding and the potential danger.”
He added, “This flooding problem cannot be ignored. The estimated cost for the work to be carried out is between £3,000 and £4,000 a paltry amount when lives are at risk.”
