PSNI launch investigation after machete attack on van

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an incident on Camlough Road around 2.50pm on Sunday, 30th September.

A Transit van was attacked by a male with a machete/hatchet type weapon. The driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

A 43 year old man was subsequently arrested and charged with AOABH (assault occasioning actual bodily harm), criminal damage, intimidation, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon and threats to kill.

He appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 1st October.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
