‘Farmers should keep their medicine record books updated – Hearty
Sinn Féin Agricultural spokesperson, Terry Hearty, says he has been inundated with calls from farmers, in regards to visits from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) officials, asking to see their medicine record books.
“One farmer had been told he had three months to update his medicine book before DARD officials called back, and within two weeks received a letter from DARD about hefty fines.
“The visits are to farmers, not in the Farm Quality Assured Scheme. We would advise all farmers not in the Farm Quality Assured Scheme to keep their medicine record books updated.
He added, “We are all too aware of the hardship farmers faced this summer and could certainly do without any ridiculous fines.”
