Newry surveyor appointed to RICS world board
A Newry-based chartered surveyor has added some prestigious letters and another important role to his already impressive CV.
Michael Hannaway, who runs local chartered surveying practice Hannaway and Hannaway, has been appointed to one of the World Regional Boards of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). He has also been made a Fellow (FRICS) of the global organisation.
Mr Hannaway is the current chairman of RICS Northern Ireland, a post he will hold for a further year. He recently successfully applied to sit on the organisation’s UK & Ireland World Regional Board – one of seven boards that oversee the 100,000 member organisation’s activities – a post he will hold for three years.
There are nine non-executive members of the RICS UK & Ireland World Regional Board, including senior property professionals from multi-national organisations.
Mr Hannaway says that the UK & Ireland World Regional Board plays a key role in guiding the work and activities of RICS in the UK & Ireland, where there are some 40,000 members.
“I’m delighted to undertake the role to play my part in helping RICS continue to develop professionalism within chartered surveying,” he added.
