Ruane welcomes Warrenpoint Marina passing ‘major hurdle’

Last week saw the proposed Marina development in Warrenpoint pass another major hurdle and the news has been welcomed by Sinn Fein’s local representative, Michael Ruane.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said,

“With the Marina project now having obtained planning permission, we can now look forward to the bridge hopefully receiving the same response. Both projects have the potential to boost Tourism and bring more visitors to this beautiful part of Ireland and have the full support of both myself and the party.

“Having the planning permission in place now means that there is an increased prospect of getting funding which would bring both these projects closer to becoming reality.”

Councillor Ruane went on to point out that the developments both have the capability to significantly increase inward investment and help to regenerate Warrenpoint, which recently has seen the closure of local businesses leading to a number of prominent buildings being closed up.
