Newry Armagh MP Conor Murphy has urged former political prisoners to follow the advice issued by Coiste na nIarchimí to check their car and home insurance policies. The Sinn Féin representative and former political prisoner said: “There is a loop-hole in some policies which means if you have been sentenced to more than two and a half years and don’t inform your insurance company to let them know, then you may not actually be insured. “Coiste na nIarchimí and its local group, Iarchimi Ard Mhacha Theas, have said that this refers to just some insurance companies and I want to reiterate the call for former prisoners to contact their insurance company to get confirmation that they are insured regardless of their prison sentence. Former political prisoners can contact Iarchimi Ard Mhacha Theas, based in Ti Chulainn, Mullaghban for further information or for assistance. Telephone 028 30889391 or by email iarchimi@yahoo.com.
