Police appeal for witnesses to Canal Quay arson attack

Police in Newry are investigating an arson attack on business premises in the Canal Quay area during the early hours of Thursday 9th August. At around 4am rubbish was placed among plastic barriers against the side of the building and set alight. The fire spread and caused substantial damage to the metal cladding and electrics of the building and there was also smoke damage to the interior of the property. Anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area or who has any information about the fire is asked to contact police at Newry on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
