Paralympic Torch event coming to Newry
Paddy Duffy, Newry & Mourne District Council’s Events Officer is delighted to announce that past Olympian Oliver Murphy from Drogheda will be carrying the Paralympic Torch at its arrival to Newry & Mourne on 25th August at 12 noon at St.Colman’s College Track, along with the Newry & Mourne District Council’s Disability Liaison/Sports Development Officer Ciara Lowe.
There will be a series of juvenile races at the running track and a display from Disability Sport NI. Medals and certificates will be issued for participating children.
Newry & Mourne District Council would like to take this opportunity to wish Rostrevor’s Laurence McGivern every success when he takes part as a swimmer for Team Ireland as part of their Aquatics Swimming Team at the Paralympics.
