Newry City Ladies, Meet the Players: Eireann McLaughlin

Eireann McLaughlin has been a key figure in Newry City Ladies league campaign this season, scoring a superb 16 goals with another game to go and recently, Newry Times caught up with Eireann to find out a little more about her:

Name: Eireann McLaughlin

Age: 15

Position: Right wing /Forward.

Previous clubs: Midway Utd, Dundalk FC.

Greatest achievement so far in your career? Winning the UK Tesco Cup with Newry.

Best player you have played against? Not sure there has been so many!

Best ground you have played in? Reebok Stadium.

Who is your sporting hero? Messi!

If you were to throw a party which celebrities or sports people would you ask around? Messi, Ronaldo and Katie Taylor.

What club would you like to play for in the future? Arsenal ladies would be the dream but also winning the premiership with Newry!

What is one thing that you enjoy while playing football? The craic we all have is great, we all get on really well as a team.

What inspires you to play football?Just how fun it is and I love playing!

What is your least favourite training drill? Sprinting is by far the worst!

Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far? Definitely my dad.

What brought you to play for Newry? John Feehan got on to me and asked me to come down to the Showgrounds and play for the Ladies.

Who is the biggest joker in the team? Probably Aoife Lennon or Alex Hurst!

Which team mate has the biggest bag of toiletries? Aoife Lennon!

Who is the best trainer at the club? Lisa McCann always gives 100%.

Who is the best/worst dresser in the team? Its hard to say because we all wear the same gear!

Who has the worst taste in music in the team? Would have to say Connie Burns.

And finally…What’s your favourite thing about playing for Newry? The craic we all have together,  they are  a great bunch of girls!
