Burns calls for hanging baskets at Creggan Bridge

Sinn Fein Councillor Colman Burns has proposed that Newry and Mourne District Council provide floral displays to straddle the railings along the new footbridge at Creggan. He made the proposal at a meeting on Friday, 27th July, in Crossmaglen Community Centre.

Councillor Burns, speaking after the meeting said,

“The new footbridge at Creggan has been very well received by the local community on the grounds of safety. The workmanship at the bridge is of a very high standard, however, some would say that the steel bridge itself has a cold and almost industrial look about it.

“To counteract this, I have made the proposal that council provide hanging floral displays at the new bridge to soften this image and as an enhancement to what is already a beautiful part of Creggan.”

The Councillor added, “I have also asked that the council approach garden centres in the local area which are more than capable of providing such floral displays.”
