Newry Sinn Féin host successful Golf Classic

The inaugural Newry Sinn Féin Golf Classic was held on Saturday 30th June at Ashfield Golf Course Cullyhanna. In total 15 teams from across Newry, South Armagh and the surrounding areas took part in what was a competitive but friendly event.

The winning team comprised of Tom Rushe, Noel Nugent, Martin Rooney and Kevin Watters who were delighted to be victorious on the day.

Speaking after the event MLA Mickey Brady said,

“This was a great event, thanks to all those who organised it and participated in it. Politics has a reputation for being all work and no play but today proved that it is possible to mix the two!

“On a more serious note this event is a good beginning to a major fundraising drive which Newry Sinn Féin will be embarking on over the coming year. Sinn Féin prides itself on offering a first class constituency service to people from all over the Newry Armagh area.”

He added, “Unfortunately the delivery of this service takes major financial resources which is always a challenge, however through initiatives such as the Golf Classic we are confident of maintaining our current level of provision.”
