Ruane congratulates Boley Fair organisers

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has congratulated the organisers of the Boley Fair for putting on another successful community based event.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ms Ruane said,

“The organisers of the Boley Fair need to be congratulated for bringing together a series of events that highlights the history and culture of this part of the Mournes in a fun and family orientated way. There were events laid on for all ages to enjoy and the large turnout of families taking part was testament to the range of activities provided.”

“The Boley Fair is a recognition of a way of life in the Mournes in times gone by and it is important that we keep that culture alive. Not only is it an education for the local people but it is also becoming a tourist attraction. I would like to say thanks to Pauline O’Hare who has brought this festival of rural life together and allowed the entire community to come together through song, dance and competitions.”

Ruane added, “The number of people who attended the events is testament to the growing success of this festival and I wish them well in their attempt to break the world record on the number of people participating in the Waves of Tory. I would ask people to come out on Tuesday evening and participate in the event and put Hilltown on the map.”
