Crossmaglen 10k Challenge 2012
The second annual Crossmaglen 10k Challenge will take place on Sunday 29th July at 1pm from Crossmaglen Rangers GFC’s grounds. This is a 10km road run, jog or walk and will follow the same route as last year’s event. Everyone in the community is encouraged to take part either by entering, marshal ling or supporting the athletes taking part.
There will also be entertainment for families attending the event including kids face painting, music at the start/finish line, kids races in the football field and a BBQ. As mentioned before the route is the same as last year; Starting and finishing at the Rangers’ hall, going out the Culloville Road, taking the short route of Lissaraw, turning right on the Dundalk road as far as the Liscalgot road, taking that left turn and returning to complete a lap of the square via the Monug Road and dreaded “Monug Hill!”
You can enter for the event at www.runireland.com or in store at Martin’s Hardware Culloville Road Crossmaglen. There will also be registration nights in the Ranger’s Hall before the event. Registration is £15.00. All entrants will receive a Clima Cool T Shirt and a very unique finishers medal along with their goody bag. You are encouraged to pre-enter to ensure you get the correct T-Shirt Size. There will be a large prize fund for the podium male and female winners (1st £150, 2nd £100 and 3rd £50), local winners and other spot prizes on the day.
Last year this event was a massive success with 270 people completing the run on a beautiful warm day with Gary O’Hanlon winning the race and setting a course record of 32.16 and Julie Turley was the first lady home in a time of 36.12.
So what are you waiting for? Get entered, get your runners on and we’ll see you on the start line. We would encourage everyone to take part, however unfortunately due to insurance reasons entrants must be over the age of 16.
