Killyleagh YC Ladies 0-8 Newry City Ladies

The First round of the Division Three Cup seen Newry City Ladies travel to Killyleagh to drive home eight goals and a clean sheet.

It was eight minutes in when City got their first, when Julie Henderson in the middle played it on to Moya Feehan who took it up the left hand side of the field with her and took a shot with her left foot which easily met the right hand corner of the net.

From then on the chances kept coming; Feehan was unlucky to miss a header following a corner from Eireann McLaughlin but the second goal came in the 15th minute when Aoife Lennon dispatched the ball to Feehan, who left two players in her wake before passing it to McLaughlin to hammer it into the top of the net. Two minutes later Feehan dribbled the ball to the by-line and passed it to Eireann whose shot was deflected to Lennon and it was her who finished expertly to grab the third.

City continued playing great football and showing off their skills and the back four made up of Marron, Clements, Kelly and Martin were too hard for Killyleagh to break down, making it a relatively quiet game for Farrell.

The Newry Ladies continued to keep the pressure on, which proved to pay off after great work and intricate passing all over the field Feehan picked up the ball and planted in arguably one of the best Newry goals this season.

City made their one and only change after half time with Aimee Mackin replacing Orlaith McKeown it only took Mackin 15 minutes to snatch another with a fantastic goal from 25 yards out. It was only three minutes later when after work from the dazzling duo of Feehan and Mackin led the ball across the goalmouth to McLaughlin whom it was only too easy for her to turn and knock it in.

With 18 minutes on the clock to go it was a ball from Marron to McLaughlin, who beat 2 players in the box showing off her class, leaving it only too easy for her to beat the keeper as well for her hat trick.

The last kick of the game came after Connie Burns slipped a nice ball into Julie Henderson who hit it home with ease to get her name on the score sheet and get the last goal of the game.
