Police seek witnesses to attempted burglary

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary and attempted burglary in the Fiveways area on Monday 25th June.

At around 10.30pm a door was forced open at a house in the Derrybeg Lane area and around 20 minutes later an attempt was made to gain access to a house in the Armagh Road area. Police believe the offender then crossed fields behind Derrybeg Lane and onto the Armagh Road near the Fiveways Roundabout. A 28 year old man was arrested a short time later and has since been released on police bail.

Enquiries are continuing and police would ask anyone who was in the area at this time and who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact CID at Ardmore on 0845 600 8000. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
