The video features a cast and crew made up entirely of people from the Newry and Mourne area

If you’re heading to the Quays Shopping Centre in Newry this weekend keep your eyes peeled for some of the familiar faces that can be seen starring in the centre’s new television advert. The complex, once described by the New York Times as ‘The hottest shopping destination on the EU’s open borders’, decided to keep its creative marketing local by employing a band of 50 talented individuals from Newry and the surrounding areas to create their latest advertisement. Directed by Newry’s very own Jak Madden and produced by Hey! Creative Communications, the advert was designed to reflect the true spirit of the place that stands so proudly in the heart of the community. Documenting a day in the life of ‘The Quays’, the ‘Take a Look Around You’ advert follows 18 individuals setting off from various locations throughout Ireland to visit The Quays. In a bid to keep everything true to Newry, Hey! Creative Communications recruited local actors and crew, many of them making their acting debut. Furthermore, the company employed local music producer David Molloy and singer Gavin Myers from Forkhill to compose and sing the song that forms the backing track for the advert. The Morgan School of Dance also got involved, performing some of their contemporary dance on the main mall. So, this weekend, be sure to ‘take a look around you’ just in case you happen to recognise some of the, now more familiar faces, of the local people who took part. Maybe if they hadn’t introduced the greedy pay parking system they wouldn’t need expensive yet highly derivative adverts to attract more customers.

Looks like a tourist board advert. Whats an aul fella on a bike at the Giants Causeway got to do with shopping in Newry. Ridiculous
