Exhibition for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month
The history, skills and culture of Traveller women is being celebrated in an exhibition at the reception area in the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, Newry.
The exhibition will include boards chartering the history of Traveller women completed by Crushan Munia, a Traveller women’s group and the textile wall hanging made by young Traveller women from the Newry area as a part of the project carried out by SELB in partnership with Equality Rights and Social Inclusion (Traveller Education Support Service) SELB, Youth Service (Social Inclusion Unit) and Artsekta.
The project has been managed by the PEACE III Southern Partnership’s Challenge of Change priority and supported by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE III) managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. Co-funded through Children’s Services Planning, Health and Social Care Trust. During June many events will be held across the UK.
