Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has met with Cindy Noble, Chief Engineer from DRD Road Service to discuss issues raised through community surveys in Hilltown and Mayobridge. Speaking to Newry Times, Ms Ruane stated, “During recent community surveys carried out in Mayobridge and Hilltown residents raised some issues that they would like to see addressed. Some of the issues include the upgrading the street lighting system in Shanlieve and the improvement of the pavements in Annagh.” “Much of the pavement in Hilltown is old and in a poor state causing problems for the elderly and infirm. One of the major issues that was raised during the survey was that residents would like to see drop pavements installed on the Main Street in Hilltown to assist those in wheelchairs and people pushing prams.” Ruane added, “I would like to thank Cindy Noble for agreeing to meet with me to look at these issues and I will be working with her to ensure that these issues are addressed in the coming weeks and months.”
