Narrow Water Bridge Appeal successful
Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the decision by the Special European Union Programmes Body (SEUPB) to reinstate the Narrow Water Bridge project for consideration for funding.
Ms Ruane stated, “This is great news for the region of South Down and Louth and will add impetus to the call for this project to go ahead. The project has cross party support in both Down and Louth Councils and was refused by the SEUPB earlier in the year and an appeal was launched.”
“In reviewing the project the SEUPB has indicated that the project can now proceed to the next stage. It is important for the development of the region in terms of tourism and economic recovery that this bridge is completed.”
Ruane added, “I am now calling on both the Assembly and the Dáil to come in behind this project so that it can be completed in the short term and will create construction jobs and help revive the local economy.”
