Corcreechy Road Planning Application refused
Fews area Sinn Fein Councillor Pat McGinn has commented on the news that Planning Service has recommended that the application for change of use on the controversial Corcreechey Road site, formerly used as a compound by Lagan Ferrovial, should be refused.
Speaking to Newry Times, McGinn said, “I believe that most local residents would see this as the correct decision. It is unfortunate that it has taken so long to get to this point. The site used by Lagan Ferrovial as a compound for the work they were doing on the new Bypass development, should have been cleared and restored as stated clearly when all this was agreed.”
McGinn continued, “Planning Procedure allows the right of appeal, so by no accounts do I believe is this issue settled.”
The Refusal decision will be presented to Newry Council’s Planning Committee meeting on 7 June 2012.
