McGreevy pays tribute to Blues on the Bay success
SDLP Newry and Mourne Councillor Connaire McGreevy has paid tribute to the Blues on the Bay Project team, and Ian Sands particularly, for another successful ‘Blues on the Bay’ festival last weekend in Warrenpoint.
Speaking to Newry Times, McGreevy said: “There were literally thousands of people about Warrenpoint this weekend and I, like so many others, enjoyed the Blues and the entire fun filled family events. People from around the world came to visit with the pubs, cafes and shops all receiving extra visitors during these difficult trading times.”
“With the closure of some venues due to the economic climate and the moving of the bank holiday from the end of May to the start of June the festival had a few hurdles to overcome this year, however Ian and those around him have pulled of another great success this year. In particular I think the open mic in Warrenpoint Park was great and created a fantastic atmosphere.”
He added, “The weather played its part, but to be honest, the way Ian organises the festival one would think he ordered the sunshine especially for the event!”
