Local independent retailer Martin Ward, will be celebrating the opening of his new state-of-the-art Centra store in Newry today at 4pm. With the sun splitting the trees and parents wondering where to take the kids for a fun-filled day, Centra has just the answer. Everyone in the local community is welcome down to celebrate the official opening and Centra has laid on a host of events. The store will be having a Family Fun Day today with a host of festivities including balloon modelling, face painting, bouncy castle, in-store sampling, and loads of give-aways. Five FM will be onsite having their road show at the store to get the celebrations off to an exciting start. There will also be a host of in-store promotions including 5p off fuel with every £25 spent in-store The store, recently rebuilt to meet the high standard of a Centra store, now offers a bigger, brighter shopping experience. Positioned on the Rathfriland Road, the store is in a residential area which, since it opened late last year, has proved popular with locals and passersby alike. Martin provides a full range of services including a forecourt, car wash, Hot Food and Deli. In comparison to the previous store there is a wider range of groceries, fresh and chilled goods, Lottery and a free ATM. This gives the customers a wider choice and value experience, with hundreds of offers every week. With ten years experience in the retail industry, Martin has a strong focus on convenience, offering more than basic products and top standard customer service. He is excited about the new upgrades to his store and spoke to Newry Times about his excitement: “The support I received from the team in the store and our loyal customers who stuck with us during the development process has been great and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them.” Regional Manager David Boyle enthused, “Martin and the team have invested a lot of time and money in this store which shows a long term commitment to the surrounding community. With over 50 employees, the store provides an important source of employment for the local area it services and upholds all the values Musgrave Retail Partners consider to be important. We look forward to supporting Martin, and wish him and his staff every success for the future.” Martin and the staff at the store are keen to contribute to the local community in any way possible. They are already very active with Action Cancer and Southern Area Hospice. Martin continued: “We hope everyone comes along to our event on Friday 25th from 4pm to 6pm. There is something for everyone and, for those who haven’t been to the store since the rebuild, why not come down, say hello and see what the new store has to offer.”
