Craobh Rua Camlocha Hurling Club Notes

Senior: The senior side fell to St. Malachy’s Portadown in a keenly contested McCormick Cup match. This week the seniors play in the Shield competition where they face neighbours Killeavy. Match details such as time and venue are yet to be finalised. Once they are known all players will be notified immediately. Ryan Lewis, Michael Garvey and Fiachra Bradley continue to play positive roles for Armagh senior Hurling teams Nicky Rackard Cup campaign.

Under 8 & 10: Coaching and training for our Under 8 and Under 10 squads continue each Monday night from 7-8pm. This Saturday our squads travel to Armagh for the Under 8/10 Blitz and all players should be at the Club for 8.45am. Craobh Rua appreciate the continued efforts and support of all our young players and their parents. Our Hurling accessories Shop will be open during all underage training sessions.

Under 12: The Under 12 team had a marvelous tussle with a spirited Middletown side and a draw on reflection was a fair enough result. There were fine skills displayed by many in the Craobh Rua jersey and Conor Quinn, Sean Watters, Cormac Murphy and Ronan Crilly caught the eye. Tiarach Lewis, Cormac Feely and Eoghan Hughes also produced fine hurling especially when we were under pressure. Well done to all the squad and many thanks to those who helped with transport. This week the side travel to Derrynoose.

Under 14: Keady proved just too strong for our Under 14 side. The young Craobh Rua hurlers put up a great effort but Keady’s strength was the telling factor. Coaching and Training takes place on Wednesday nights from 6.30 to 8pm. The league match this week, which is played on Monday nights, sees us traveling to Middletown. Adam Matthews, Declan Harris and Conor McKevitt represented Craobh Rua Camlocha in the recent Armagh Féile skills competition. The eventual winner was Jody Kane of Keady and we wish him all the best as he now represents Armagh in the All Ireland Féile skills final.

Under 16: Training continues on Wednesday nights at 6.45pm and all players are asked to make the effort to attend. The League now breaks for four weeks for exams. The next League match is scheduled for the 15th of June. We wish all our players who are involved in exams over the next weeks well.

Minor: Because of Exam breaks there will be no League matches until next month. Players involved with our senior panel are encouraged to attend all games. Minors are also asked to continue to attend our senior/minor training on Thursday nights. Best wishes to all those involved in exams. Ryan Lundy, Sean Casey and Fionnan Burns are currently involved in the Armagh Minor squad as they prepare for their Ulster Championship challenge next month.

Coiste: The annual fund raising “Thurles Cycle” will be launched shortly and anyone wishing to become involved as a cyclist or part of the logistics team should contact secretary Labhras Bradley. Fundraising is a hugely important aspect of the Club as we strive to ensure its sustainability, development and the well being of our community. The Coiste of Craobh Rua Camlocha welcome any support or fundraising proposals for discussion that anyone with an interest in Craobh Rua  might have.
