Hughes insurance win prestigious business award

Hughes Insurance, Northern Ireland’s largest independent insurance provider, has won the ‘Outstanding Business Team of the Year’ award at the 2012 Belfast Telegraph Northern Ireland Business Awards. The broker, also recently judged the 2011/12 UTV Business EYE ‘Company of the Year’, won the award in the face of stiff competition from Allstate Northern Ireland, CEM systems and Core Systems.

Hughes Insurance insure one in five motorists in Northern Ireland and generate upwards of £70 million in insurance premiums per annum. The local company recently doubled the size of its headquarters in North Down, to cater for ongoing expansion and continues to recruit new staff across the branch network to support growth.

The company has over 140,000 customers across its insurance portfolio – including commercial vehicle and business insurance. 75 staff have already been recruited this year with further recruitment planned to support ongoing growth in the business. The firm is already targeting a 25% market share – aiming to insure one in four drivers in Northern Ireland in 2012.
