Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has welcomed Community Relations Week and has highlighted that it is an opportunity for building relationships across the island. Speaking to Newry Times, Mr. Hazzard said, “Next week is the 10th anniversary Community Relations Week and it is important that we use it to continue to build upon the work already carried out. There is over 150 events planned right across the North and these events help build upon breaking down the barriers in our communities. We must ensure that the we take the opportunities presented by allowing the communities to come together to explore each others differences and fears so that we can learn to respect each others differences and cultures.” Hazzard concluded that, “I would like to congratulate the organisers for a full programme of events and the work that they carry out on a day to day basis. There is a wide variety of events planned from seminars, arts, dramas and sport and I would encourage everyone to take part in these events.”
