South Down Sinn Féin MLA’s Caitríona Ruane and Chris Hazzard will this week welcome the All Ireland winning Down Minor Camogie team to Assembly Buildings. The team, who stormed to glory last week to lift the All Ireland C Title will, be hosted by South Down Sinn Féin in recognition of their success.

Mr Hazzard, whose younger sister is a member of the team, commented; “The win over Kerry last week was a fantastic display of camogie by the girls and I and Caitríona are honoured to be hosting them on behalf of Sinn Féin. In recognition of the significance of their win, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness will be presenting to the girls. I am sure there will be much banter in light of the girl’s next provincial meeting with Derry Minors, who they will be hoping to overcome in June to lift the Ulster Championship title.”

Ms Ruane added; “We are so very proud of the girls and their achievement. Tribute must also be paid to their management team and members of the Camogie board and the Down County Board, who spend their lives committed to developing on the strong GAA culture we have here in County Down.”
