Burren footpath consultation welcomed

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has called on the residents of Milltown Street in Burren to partake in the consultation over a new footpath for the area.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ms Ruane said, “I along with my colleague Councillor Peter Kearney have campaigned for a footpath along this stretch of road. At present there is no footpath and pedestrians are forced to walk on the busy roadway. This is putting the lives of the users, especially the school children at risk, from passing traffic. I am pleased that the DRD Road Service have instigated a consultation with the residents of the area over the footpath.”

Ruane added, “This is the first stage of the process so I would call on all residents to engage in the consultation so that we can move as soon as possible to having a footpath installed that will enhance the safety of the pedestrian users in this area.”
