Premier Division

Windmill Stars shock midweek defeat to Killowen Celtic now gives the advantage to Newry Celtic in this year’s enthralling race for the title. Windmill recovered well on Saturday though with victory over a battling Rockview United at Olympic park.

Action between Killeavy United and Kilkeel Athletic in the semi final of the AOH Cup at Willie Davis Park on Saturday.

Stephen Daly gave Rockview the lead from a counter attack but Gareth White scored his fifth goal in three games to level the match shortly before half time. In the second half Liam McCartan put the Stars in front with a tap in from five yards and the same player sealed the points with a penalty kick five minutes from time.

Bessbrook United sent a clear message out to their rivals on Saturday that they haven’t given up hope of retaining the title after a clinical display against Killowen Celtic at Orior Park. A hat trick from Gareth Hughes, a Philip Hughes brace and one from Declan Carville brought Killowen back down to earth after their midweek win over league leaders Windmill Stars.

Elsewhere, a hat trick from Conor Giles helped Woodside see off the challenge from relegated Damolly United.

First Division

North End Strollers leapfrogged Whitecross at the top of the table after a 1-0 victory over Cartwheel United in Crossmaglen. A double from Marty O’Donnell and a goal from Conor Shields were not enough to prevent Bohemians losing as they went down 4-3 to Rostrevor Rovers in Kilbroney.

Clanrye extended their unbeaten run to four after a thrilling 3-3 draw against Midway at Frank Curran Park. Grasshoppers were unable to field a team and as a consequence Ashgrove Rovers were awarded a 2-0 victory.

Kilkeel's Kyle Morris wins this aerial challenge with his Killeavy opponent.

Kilkeel Athletic are in contention of picking up some silverware after they eliminated Killeavy United in the semi final of the AOH Cup at Willie Davis Park.

Killeavy dominated the game for long spells but couldn’t find a way past a stubborn Kilkeel rear guard. The game was a stalemate for 90 minutes and extra time so the game was decided by way of a penalty shoot out. Kilkeel won 2-1 and their reward is a place in the final against holders Bessbrook United.
