County Down Junior Quad Club hold fun race at new venue
The County Down Junior Quad Club has held it’s first fun race at their new venue. The venue at Tyrella House near Ballykinler hosted new competitors and their families on the day as plenty turned out in support of junior quad racing.
A spokeswoman for the County Down Junior Quad Club told Newry Times, “This year is unique as it is the first time in 10 years that the Ulster Championship will be run at junior level, and we have Lloyd Acoustics as our Championship sponsor.”
She continued, “We will continue to work with the PSNI and Nigel Donnelly with his community safety team to promote quad racing in a positive light, and we are preparing an event later in the season with Nigel’s team. We had a good turn out for the 1st event of the season and we do hope that goes from strength to strength. The 1st round of our Championship is on Saturday 21st April all welcome.”
Brian Hunter of the Quad Club also commented saying he wanted to “thank the Corbett family for giving us the ground and everyone who helped in any way to build the track especially the MRA our Governing body, the commitee who have given up so much of their time to prepare the track, the British Red Cross without them we cant run an event, to Barbara and Myra who attend the meetings with Down District Council for our Sports Accrediation Award, Katherine Tougher who continues to do the website and keeps us all up to date with the news and Nicola McCormick for the fantastic photos.”
