Poland and Down have no fear going in to NFL semi-final
Down man Mark Poland has said that the Mournemen have no fear over Cork going in to tomorrow’s National Football League semi-final.
Cork and Down have met several times in recent years, with Cork having handed out heavy defeats to Down in the last three meetings, the fourth encounter being an All Ireland final victory for the Rebels in 2010.
Poland spoke to the Irish News this week about Down’s positive thinking, “Some people think that Cork have this thing over Down, but we don’t think that, definitely not. When we heard we would be playing Cork in the semi-finals, we were looking forward to it. If you’re ever going to win anything, you have to beat these teams.”
He continued, “We’ll not go in against Cork with any fear – we’ll respect them – but it will be good for the younger lads who’ve come in this year to play against them. I suppose when we’ve played them four times we should really know what to expect. But trying to counter them is a wee bit harder than people think.”
