Poleathon for Autism Awareness Month
Pole Fitness and Autism NI are getting together to raise money for “Autism Awareness Month”. Autism is a lifelong disability which affects the social and communication centre of the brain. Autism affects the way an individual relates to people, situations and the immediate environment.
The term Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is used because Autism varies from person to person. Around 25% of people with ASD will have an accompanying learning disability. Some people with ASD will have average or above average intelligence, they are likely to be diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Regardless of an individual’s level of functioning, all individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder will have problems in the areas of Social Communication, Social Skills and Social Imagination. At present there is no known cure for Autism; however, there are a range of interventions that can help individuals reach their full potential.
The ladies from Pole Fitness, Newry and Pole Fitness, Dungannon are holding a “Poleathon” to raise money for this worthy cause through Autism NI, Northern Ireland’s Autism Charity. You can pick up a sponsor form from the studios or else call into the studios on the day and take part. You do not need to have any pole experience as volunteers who drop in will be given a lesson to get started. Each person can either make a donation to take part and in return you can have a few hours of exercise, fun and dance or grab a sponsor form and get your friends and family to sponsor you.
The dates to put in your diary are:
Saturday 28th April – Pole Fitness, Moygashel, Dungannon 3 – 5pm
Sunday 29th April – Pole Fitness, Boat Street, Newry 3 – 5pm
