Newry bomb ‘could have killed’ say police
Police have said tonight that the bomb found at the Cloughoge roundabout today could have killed. Police have stated that the bomb contained a “significant amount of explosives that had the potential to kill”.
The device was made safe by Army bomb experts, as the A1, a major motorway linking Belfast and Dublin, was closed in both directions.
The road closures caused a huge tailback in the area throughout Friday.
It is not yet known what type of device was at the scene.
