McKevitt welcomes Warrenpoint Road bus stops

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt said she is pleased that Ulster Bus has responded to representations by erecting two new bus stops on Warrenpoint Road at Oaklands and Forest Hills.

Speaking to Newry Times, she said: “In terms of delivering for constituents it is often the smaller things that give the greatest satisfaction. In the great scheme of things bus stops are perhaps small, but from the point of view of people who rely on buses and have to walk an unnecessary distance in bad weather, they are actually quite a big deal.”

She added, “If you have a good, common-sense case to make on behalf of people, if you can point out the quite large benefit in terms of quality of life against a very modest cost, and of course if you are prepared to persist, then it is possible to get things done.”
