Armagh Road Pavement Scheme welcomed

Councillor Charlie Casey has welcomed a major footpath replacement scheme which is currently ongoing in College Gardens, Mountainview Drive and Violet Hill Avenue areas. Speaking to Newry Times, the Lord Mayor said he was delighted to see the ‘significant investment’ in the area and he commended Roads Service for undertaking this major piece of work.

Councillor Casey stated, “I have spoken with Roads Services and they have informed me that the works will last for approximately one month. I know that while the work is ongoing it will mean some disruption for those living in the area but I hope that people will be patient and adhere to any traffic management schemes necessary to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible.”

He added, “In addition to new footpaths all of the parking bays and road markings will be repainted and the road surface is due to be upgraded as well. This will ensure greater safety for all road users in the area and is very welcome.”
