Independent enquiry into Irish Cup to be held on Tuesday
The fate of Newry City FC in this seasons Irish Cup will be decided this Tuesday as the independent hearing into Ballymena United’s expulsion takes place.
Newry issued an appeal into the eligibility of United’s Alan Davidson following a 2-1 quarter-final defeat.
The Irish Football Association agreed with Newry City’s appeal having initially rejected it, and City were subsequently reinstated into the cup at Ballymena’s expense. Ballymena responded by launching an independent enquiry.
If the appeal if rejected, City will go ahead with their semi-final tie against Linfield.
