Police car allegedly involved in city centre smash
Newry Times believes a road traffic accident has occurred in the Kildare Street area of Newry tonight. It is alleged that a police vehicle may have been involved.
The picture (below) was sent in to the news desk tonight by a local man who claimed that the White Vauxhall Vectra rammed another unknown car. The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 9:00pm tonight (Sunday) and police, ambulance and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service were at the scene.

The police car came from the Trevor hill direction with no siren or lights flashing to the junction on the other side of the road. The car containing 4 members of the public had left the junction and the police car hit the car at the back wheel area of the car it spun round about 180o. The 2 police officers ran over and asked if they where ok and it took the 2 of them with extreme force to pull the back door of the car to let 1 of the male passengers out of the back close to where the impact was. Their was about 6 police cars attended the scene 2 ambulances and a fire engine. I witnessed this as I was sitting in the traffic on the way to hill street
