Crossmaglen’s St Oliver Plunkett Youth Club receives award
Young people from St Oliver Plunkett Youth Club, Crossmaglen have won a prestigious award at this year’s Community Safety Partnership Awards Ceremony.
Local Councillor Terry Hearty, who attended the ceremony, commended all the young people who had taken part in the drug and alcohol awareness project and their youth leaders who had advised them through it, “This is a wonderful achievement for these young people and for St Oliver Plunkett Youth Club” councillor Hearty said, “They have obviously put a lot of hard work into this very worthwhile project and the have received the commendation which they richly deserve.”
He continued, “Drugs have become a major problem across the district and this applies to the rural areas as well as urban centres so it is fitting that these youths chose this topic to focus on. I hope that it will have raised awareness of the misuse of drugs and prevented people from getting involved in drugs at all.”
