Mayor Casey launches St.Patrick’s Day Festival
Mayor Charlie Casey recently hosted the launch of the 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Festival in the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre. Introducing the programme of events for this year’s festival which includes a host of new, innovative events, he assured the community that there would be something for everyone.
He was particularly pleased to announce the arrival of the famous Tulla Ceili Band, who will be performing at a special Ceili organised by Ceol Camlocha in the Canal Court Hotel on Friday 16th March.
Mayor Casey commented, “I am delighted with the programme of events which has been put together for the St. Patrick’s Days Festivities. There is something for everyone to enjoy with a full programme of music, song and dance. Due to the ongoing Public Realm Scheme in Hill Street the street entertainment will take place in Kildare Street. The traditional outdoor Ceili has also been moved to Newry City Hall.”
Complimenting the St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be a host of fringe events details of which are available on the Programme. Cullen’s Funfair will open on Friday 9th March at Christopher Park and will remain there until Monday 19th March.
