Sinn Fein’s Pat McGinn bids farewell to ‘popular Camlough lads’

Sinn Fein’s Pat McGinn has this week spoke of a “pleasant night” which was recently held to bid a fond farewell to “popular Camlough lads” Michael McCabe and Niall McGinn, who have now left Ireland for Australia. The two were members of a group that last year cycled from Malin Head to Mizen Head and raised £20,000 for the Caun Mhuire Addiction Centre.

Among those who attended the evening at the Sheepbridge Inn near Newry were some of those who had also participated in the “Cycle of Hope” fundraiser with Niall and Michael. The two men join many of Newry & Mourne’s young men and women who have left the locality to venture out to foreign lands.

If you know anyone who has left the Newry & Mourne area recently, why not put them in contact with Newry Times for our Newry’s Lost Generation feature by emailing editor@newrytimes.com or using our contact page by clicking here.
