Security alert in Monaghan Street over

Iceland on Monaghan Street was the scene of a security alert today

Police have told Newry Times that a security operation in Iceland car park on Monaghan Street – which took place most of the morning – has now ended. The major security operation started at around 11:25pm today and saw motorists having to abandon their cars parked in the vicinity of the area. Ammunition Technical Officers arrived at the scene and examined the object. A PSNI Spokesperson said, “A security alert at a car park in Monaghan Street, Newry has ended. Ammunition Technical Officers attended and examined an object. This was found to be non-suspicious.”
