Killeavy GAC, club news and events – 13th February

Killeavy back in the Big League

The Armagh leagues have been restructured from four divisions of 12 teams to three divisions of 16. The new groupings were announced on Tuesday and we find ourselves back in Division 1 along with all the big names in Armagh football. First team manager Gary Thornton was delighted with the move to Division 1. He said that games against the likes of Crossmaglen and Pearse Og will be a real challenge for our young team but they will also be a great help in preparation for our Intermediate championship campaign which remains our priority for 2012.

The full list of teams in Division 1 now reads:
Armagh Harps Granemore
Ballymacnab Killeavy
Carrickcruppen Maghery
Clan na Gael Pearse Og
Clann Eireann St Patrick’s
Crossmaglen Sarsfields
Culloville Whitecross
Dromintee Wolfe Tones

What is good news for our first team does of course make life harder for our seconds who now have to face all last year’s opponents plus four more teams coming down from the old third division. We will see how it all pans out when the leagues get under way in April.
