Two charged after cannabis factory discovered in Rostrevor
Police in Rostrevor have recovered 70 cannabis plants and 35kgs of cannabis resin following the search of a house in the Pinewood area. Local officers and detectives from PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch uncovered the cannabis factory during a planned search under the Misuse of Drugs Act on Monday 23rd January.
Four dogs were also seized at this property. The dogs are suspected of being involved in badger baiting. Police have charged a 33 year old male and a 29 year old woman who are due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25th January.
The 33 year old male has been charged with: allowing damage to an electricity meter; cruelty to animals; cultivating cannabis; damaging an electricity meter; dishonestly using electricity; two charges of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply and two counts of possessing a class B drug.
The 29 year old female has been charged with: allowing damage to an electricity meter; cultivating cannabis; damaging an electricity meter; dishonestly using electricity; two counts of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply and two counts of possessing a class B drug.
As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
