The Ring of Gullion was the scene of a winter wonderland this month as part of the Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Management Plan. The event was organised by the Newry and Mourne District Council as well as local events organiser Sharon Carroll who created a mixture of nature, fairy-tales and a visit from Santa Claus. Mayor Charlie Casey attended the event and said, “This was a great days fun, all the kids and parents enjoyed it. Sharon was enthusiastic as usual and made the day very memorable!” Darren Rice from the Newry and Mourne Council also in attendance, said; “The children and parents did a great job finding all the charms in the forests of Slieve Gullion, we couldn’t have wakened Santa from the Ice Queen’s spell without them!” For more information on tours, attractions and places to eat and stay in the Ring of Gullion and South Armagh visit: www.ringofgullion.org.
