Bradley: ‘Culture Minister evasive about Irish Language Bill’

SDLP Spokesperson in the Irish language Dominic Bradley has said that the Minister for Culture Arts and Leisure is extremely vague about her proposals for the Irish language bill. Commenting on the Minister’s answers during question time in the Assembly Mr Bradley said, “The Minister does not know how much the Irish language bill will cost, she has not set any money aside for it, and now she cannot outline the main proposals of the bill.”

He added, “On a number of occasions when I have have asked her to outline the main proposals of the bill she has been vague, evasive, and tetchy aound the subject. There is no reference to Irish language legislation in the programme for government. The Minister should be open and transparent about her proposals and outline clearly what exactly her intentions  are for  Irish language legislation.”
